Willow Bonsai Ceramics is a family-run pottery studio in Avondale, Colorado, led by founder Antony Smith and his wife, Mavourneen Smith. Antony began the pottery business in 2014 after purchasing a small ceramics operation in South Africa; Mavourneen joined full time in 2016. Their U.S. studio opened in August 2024. Drawing on Antony’s landscape-design background and lifelong interest in bonsai, they develop forms that balance planting function with visual detail. Their values center on hands-on work, careful finishing and small-batch character: Antony designs, casts and glazes, while Mavourneen refines pieces and oversees quality control.
Bring miniature pottery to a vertical display with this set of six shito bonsai pot magnets. Each ceramic piece measures 1.5 inches in diameter and is fitted with a magnet for use on a suitable magnetic surface. The small pot forms offer a compact way to add ceramic detail to a refrigerator, cabinet or workspace.
The six shapes are finished in reactive glazes, so surface color and movement vary from piece to piece. Arrange the set together or spread the pieces across several suitable surfaces. The supplier describes them for decorative use or air plants; this set is designed around magnetic display rather than a conventional shelf arrangement.
This set gains individual surface character through a hands-on studio process. Glaze colors and textures may differ from the photographs; these variations are expected in handmade ceramics.

These ceramics begin with an in-house design and a master used to create a mold. Each ceramic piece is slip cast by hand, refined and fired in the Colorado studio. Molds provide a consistent starting form, while hand finishing and the firing process give the final surface its individual character. The studio tests commercial glazes on its clay body and fires its ceramics at 2300°F, or 1260°C.
The finish belongs to the Set A selection shown for this listing. Reactive and hand-finished glazes develop during firing, giving every fired surface its own variation. The photographs illustrate this finish.
Dust the ceramics gently and use a lightly damp cloth when needed. Dry the pieces before returning them to a display surface. Test magnetic attachment before placing an item above a fragile or frequently used area. Handle the ceramic bodies carefully and remove a piece by supporting it rather than pulling against a projecting detail.
